Mr. Usman has an Honours degree in Communications & Network
Engineering from the Middlesex University in London. After starting the packaging company in 2015, he progressed through a number of domestic and international businesses with Xplosa Corporation. Mr. Usman has played a crucial role in the continued success of the company, and the exceptional skill set, true passion and creativity of all those who work for the company have inspired massive growth.

As mentioned earlier, Xplosa manufactures high quality corrugated cartons, consumer household products, industrial adhesives and chemicals. It provides high quality and sustainable packaging solutions, and the team at Xplosa have around a decade of expertise and knowledge in providing quality packaging solutions, from protecting delicate glass items to covering heavy duty industrial equipment. In manufacturing sturdy corrugated boxes, Xplosa sources the highest grade of raw materials from local and international suppliers. In terms of packaging Xplosa can provide products from Master Cartons to customised boxes.
Xplosa also produces high quality consumer goods, and with around 20 years of experience in the consumer goods industry, it specializes in household goods such as matchboxes, candles, tissue rolls, serviettes, bags and aromatherapy products. Xplosa also prides itself on being reliable, consistent and innovative in producing adhesives such as adhesive clear tape, adhesive printed tape, industrial adhesives and gelatin adhesives. According to Mr. Usman, Xplosa Group of companies has around 350 staff members employed at its offices in Colombo and Pallekele in Kandy, including a management team that consists of highly qualified and exceptional people, who show their utmost dedication and passion towards the company’s vision and mission.
Moreover, Xplosa Corporation had the honour of winning a Gold Award in the Sustainable Packaging category for a 10PC egg cover at the Sri Lanka Packaging Award 2022, which was held on November 3rd at the Galadari Hotel.
The Sri Lanka Packaging Award is an awards ceremony held annually, and it is organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging—a well recognised and respectful organisation in Sri Lanka.
“It is affiliated with the World Packaging Organisation and the Asia Packaging Federation. It recognises manufacturers’ ability for innovation and sustainability, and has a wide range of future prospects to bring the packaging industry in Sri Lanka to an exceptional level. It also recognised new products from various companies with the launch of the 2022 Lanka Star Award ceremony on November 3, at the Galadari Hotel,” said Mr. Usman.
Sri Lanka Packaging Award 2022 was assessed by an eminent panel comprising four on site judges and five external judges, including two international judges. The Judging Panel comprised: Commercial Bank of Ceylon Chairman and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa Prof. A.K.W. Jayawardena, University of Moratuwa Chemical and Process Engineering Professor P.G. Ratnasiri, Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Communication and Brand Country Head Mr. Tharanaga Gunasekera, University of Ruhuna Oceanography and Marine Geology Department Head and Former Director General of the Marine Environmental Protection
Authority (MEPA) Prof. Terney Pradeep Kumara, Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging Past President Dharmatilake Ratnayake, Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging Past President Ananda Munasinghe, Turkish Packaging Manufacturer General Secretary Aslihan Arikan, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research Deputy Dr. Pattra Maneesin.
When asked how the company’s team felt about their achievement at the 2022 Sri Lanka Packing Award, Mr. Usman had this to say: “Winning the Award will boost our company's reputation, and will set us apart from the crowd. It will also give our team a morale boost by highlighting our achievement. It will also positively represents our corrugated products and other products and increase our industry credibility by establishing us as an expert in the industry.”
“I am open to whatever opportunities the future may hold, especially within this company. I am confident in being flexible and adaptable. I think the best way of planning for the future is to make the most of the present. I started this company because it is a perfect fit for my interests and skill set. In five years, I hope Xplosa Corporation will be on the right path that will lead to a supervisory position in Sri Lanka, with a long-term goal of eventually moving into IPO, and making Xplosa Corporation a well reputed and trusted multinational conglomerate in the world,” he added.
“We are invested in research and development, and are looking forward to starting our largest packaging manufacturing unit with the latest technology and machinery in a space of 217,600 square feet in Colombo, within three years,” he said, when asked if the company had any upcoming plans and projects in the near future. “I would like to be thankful to God.
