Message from Daniel Bood - Acting High Commissioner of Canada
On behalf of the Canadian High Commission to Sri Lanka and Maldives, I would like to offer my congratulations to all recipients of the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2022. I would also like to thank the companies and other organizations that participated in the IR Awards 2022 competition. Held for the 8th year in a row, these awards highlight the quality of integrated reporting among Sri Lankan organizations. Increasingly, they are being embraced by various companies, including in the
banking and insurance sectors, to showcase accounting capabilities and adherence to standards. This suggests that a culture of high-quality integrated reporting is now taking hold in Sri Lankan society.
Allow me to also convey my sincere congratulations to Prof. Watawala and his team for their excellent work in organizing the awards event and for the ongoing work of the CMA. More than ever, Sri Lanka needs its management accountants – women and men who are broadminded and forwardthinking, guided by integrity and professionalism and dedicated not only to serving their organization but their country as well, thereby protecting the public interest. The Institute of Certified Management Accountants has been training and developing such socially responsible and capable professionals for more than twenty years. Canada is proud to have been there at the beginning, with technical assistance delivered through CMA Canada to help establish the Institute. I look forward to collectively exploring areas in which we can continue the cooperation between the High Commission of Canada and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of
Sri Lanka in the years to come, to the benefit of both Canada and Sri Lanka.
