Message from Chairman Colombo Stock Exchange

-

I have great pleasure in sending this message on the occasion of the Integrated Reporting Awards competition conducted by the CMA Sri Lanka for the 8th consecutive year. We are pleased to be part of the initiative to promote integrated reporting among companies.

Presently there are over 100 companies that are adopting integrated reporting in Sri Lanka with a high level of compliance from most of the leading listed entities. Over the years, we have observed the expansion of IR into all sectors in the Stock Exchange.

Currently Integrated Reporting is a voluntary requirement in Sri Lanka. The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has already recognised the importance of its adoption by all listed entities towards their journey for sustainable value creation for stakeholders.

Over the years, the CSE has been associated with the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards competition with the intention of the expansion of the IR adoption in Sri Lanka as a capacity building exercise among all the stakeholders.

Considering the recent global developments, the CSE recognises the importance of the adoption of integrated reporting by all the listed entities for the sustainable development of the capital market and we welcome the adoption of IR by newly listed entities as well.

What would be feasible is to introduce the voluntary adoption of integrated reporting to S&P 20 companies as the first step and later extend it to the top 100 companies with the intention of introducing mandatory adoption later in the future.

My congratulations to all the winners of the competition and my best wishes to CMA Sri Lanka on their contribution to corporate integrated reporting in Sri Lanka.
