LOLC Group continues UoC Almuni Partnership for 2022/2023

-

The leading conglomerate LOLC Group extended its MoU with the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo (UoC), for another year up to 2023.

The University of Colombo Alumni Partnership Programme is a continuing initiative of the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo which represents all Alumni of the University of Colombo, to work closely with leading private and public sector organisations to provide opportunities for enhanced corporate sector involvement and support in the UoC’s activities.

Formed in 1982, the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo is an apex body of the alumni of various faculties of the University, forming a link between its membership and the University. Members of the Association comprise all Alumni who have passed out of the University of Colombo.

Today, the Association continues its role of fostering close ties between the student body, University and its alumni. The Alumni Association of the University of Colombo views its role as “connectors” and thought leaders very seriously and to this end, not only conducts various programmes and initiatives targeting the development and welfare of undergraduates and its members but also conducts public forums to create awareness and discussion in matters of public importance.

“As the largest conglomerate in Sri Lanka, we always treasure our strong rapport with the premier University in the country, the University of Colombo. In spite of the present economic and social stress, a close link between higher educational institutions and the industry is of paramount importance. I firmly believe our corporate partnership with the UoC Alumni can play a pivotal role in new dimensions to bridge gaps in our traditional education system,” Pradeep Uluwaduge, Chief Human Resource Officer of the LOLC Group said.

“It was comforting to note that the Corporate Sector has not shelved their Corporate Social Responsibilities during these trying times for everyone. The LOLC Group has supported the activities of the Association now for several years, and we appreciate the support we receive, not only financially but technically as well,” Rajeev Amarasuriya, UoC Alumni President said.

“The next significant activity of the Association was holding the 17th Annual Sujata Jayawardena Memorial Oration on the topic “Economic Crisis : Where are we, and where do we go from here ?” which will be delivered by Former Central Bank Governor Deshamanya Indrajit Coomaraswamy on November 29 at the BMICH,” he added.
