MSU / MSI Students Conduct Youth Empowerment Workshop on Green Investments in Bandarawela
In conjunction with the World Tourism Day celebration 2023, students of Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Event Management programmes at Management and Science Institute (MSI) have successfully conducted a workshop on “Youth Empowerment” under the theme of “Green Investments" for the grade 12 students of Bandarawela Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya on 31st August 2023.
The workshop was organised under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid, President of the MSU and MSI as well as Prof. Dr. Junainah Abd Hamid, Vice-Chancellor of the MSU. It is also under supervision of D.S. Peiris, Director MSI, Suranga Tennakoon, and Ali Idroos, who are the programmes's lecturers. The Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya Principal, Ajith Jayamanne, and members of the school's tutorial staff were also present during the workshop.
The new knowledge shared at the workshop would be useful for the participants who wish to focus on their future career and professional development in the tourism and hospitality industry. As the workshop was themed under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on zero hunger, no poverty, quality education, and partnership, the participants also learnt about the importance of “green investments” in the tourism industry which has a positive impact to the society as well as environment.After the programme, the MSI students climbed the "Ella Rock" to promote togetherness and teamwork among them.
