The cricket match featured a spirited encounter between medical professionals who graduated from leading Belarusian State Medical Universities and current Sri Lankan medical students actively pursuing their studies in Belarus. This exciting match unfolded at the Malay Cricket Grounds in Colombo 2, showcasing talent and sportsmanship.
The subsequent evening gala at the Winchester Hall of The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo radiated with distinguished Belarusian dignitaries, accomplished medical practitioners, students, and parents. Among the evening’s notable highlights was a significant moment that unfolded during the event – the bestowing of the All-Rounder Achievement scholarship and Extra-Mile scholarships to deserving students.
Leading this honourable task was Dr Harry Prasad, the current president of the Belarusian Graduates Association in Sri Lanka. Dr Harry Prasad, a notable personality with an array of distinguished credentials, holds the esteemed titles of MD-Belarus, and MBA-UK and is actively pursuing studies at the CIMA Strategic Level, Diplomas in Russian Language and Counselling and Psychotherapy. With his academic accomplishments, he serves as the Chief Executive Officer of ISC Education and Chief Medical Officer at Fertility Centre Asiri Group of Hospitals.
Joining Dr Harry Prasad in this esteemed endeavour were Ms Induja Pushpanathan, Director and Chief Operating Officer of ISC Education, who holds a BSc from the UK and an MBA from the UK, and Ms Shanali De Silva, Director and General Manager of ISC Education, who possesses an MBA from the UK. Together, they graced the students with over 1.5 million rupees in scholarships, marking a momentous occasion that will undoubtedly shape their educational journeys.
Dr Harry graciously presented the champions’ trophy and individual awards of distinction to the victorious team, Alum Knight Strikers, comprised of esteemed graduates. Recognising exceptional performance, the All-Rounder Award of the match was awarded to Dr Patkunarajah Ramraj. Acknowledging his outstanding bowling skills, the title of Best Bowler was awarded to Dr Gihan Ranasinghe, while Dr Dinidu Maduranga deservedly earned the award for Best Batsman.
Esteemed figures, including Dr Rama Shankar Sha, Founder of Milemir LLC, Prof. Rubnikovich Sergei, Rector of Belarusian State Medical University, and Professor Anashkina Svetlana Anatolievna, ViceRector for International Relations of Gomel State Medical University and other esteemed dignitaries from leading Belarusian Universities extended their warm wishes for the event.
The gathering served as a platform to reinforce connections between current and former Belarusian Graduates. It allowed students to build camaraderie, exchange experiences about Belarusian customs and cultures with seniors, and enable alums to relive cherished memories and reunite with their batchmates. Dr Harry Prasad, President of the Sri Lankan committee, emphasised the association’s steadfast commitment to an enduring partnership that supports Sri Lankan students in Belarus. This partnership, which extends to academic pursuits, safety, and other essential matters, is bolstered by ISC Education in Sri Lanka, Milemir LLC in Belarus, and other Belarusian educational institutions. This cooperative effort ensures a seamless 6-year period of study in Belarus.
Furthermore, the association and ISC Education pledged unwavering support for graduates as they advance educationally and professionally after completing their studies in the Republic of Belarus.
