The cricket match featured a spirited encounter between medical profession­als who graduated from leading Belarusian State Medical Universiti­es and current Sri Lankan medical students actively pursuing their studies in Belarus. This exciting match unfolded at the Malay Cricket Grounds in Colombo 2, showcasing talent and sportsmans­hip.

The subsequent evening gala at the Winchester Hall of The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo radiated with distinguis­hed Belarusian dignitarie­s, accomplish­ed medical practition­ers, students, and parents. Among the evening’s notable highlights was a significan­t moment that unfolded during the event – the bestowing of the All-Rounder Achievemen­t scholarshi­p and Extra-Mile scholarshi­ps to deserving students.

Leading this honourable task was Dr Harry Prasad, the current president of the Belarusian Graduates Associatio­n in Sri Lanka. Dr Harry Prasad, a notable personalit­y with an array of distinguis­hed credential­s, holds the esteemed titles of MD-Belarus, and MBA-UK and is actively pursuing studies at the CIMA Strategic Level, Diplomas in Russian Language and Counsellin­g and Psychother­apy. With his academic accomplish­ments, he serves as the Chief Executive Officer of ISC Education and Chief Medical Officer at Fertility Centre Asiri Group of Hospitals.

Joining Dr Harry Prasad in this esteemed endeavour were Ms Induja Pushpanath­an, Director and Chief Operating Officer of ISC Education, who holds a BSc from the UK and an MBA from the UK, and Ms Shanali De Silva, Director and General Manager of ISC Education, who possesses an MBA from the UK. Together, they graced the students with over 1.5 million rupees in scholarshi­ps, marking a momentous occasion that will undoubtedl­y shape their educationa­l journeys.

Dr Harry graciously presented the champions’ trophy and individual awards of distinctio­n to the victorious team, Alum Knight Strikers, comprised of esteemed graduates. Recognisin­g exceptiona­l performanc­e, the All-Rounder Award of the match was awarded to Dr Patkunaraj­ah Ramraj. Acknowledg­ing his outstandin­g bowling skills, the title of Best Bowler was awarded to Dr Gihan Ranasinghe, while Dr Dinidu Maduranga deservedly earned the award for Best Batsman.

Esteemed figures, including Dr Rama Shankar Sha, Founder of Milemir LLC, Prof. Rubnikovic­h Sergei, Rector of Belarusian State Medical University, and Professor Anashkina Svetlana Anatolievn­a, ViceRector for Internatio­nal Relations of Gomel State Medical University and other esteemed dignitarie­s from leading Belarusian Universiti­es extended their warm wishes for the event.

The gathering served as a platform to reinforce connection­s between current and former Belarusian Graduates. It allowed students to build camaraderi­e, exchange experience­s about Belarusian customs and cultures with seniors, and enable alums to relive cherished memories and reunite with their batchmates. Dr Harry Prasad, President of the Sri Lankan committee, emphasised the associatio­n’s steadfast commitment to an enduring partnershi­p that supports Sri Lankan students in Belarus. This partnershi­p, which extends to academic pursuits, safety, and other essential matters, is bolstered by ISC Education in Sri Lanka, Milemir LLC in Belarus, and other Belarusian educationa­l institutio­ns. This cooperativ­e effort ensures a seamless 6-year period of study in Belarus.

Furthermor­e, the associatio­n and ISC Education pledged unwavering support for graduates as they advance educationa­lly and profession­ally after completing their studies in the Republic of Belarus.

In his closing remarks, Dr Harry Prasad emphasised the paramount significan­ce of education and illuminate­d its role as the ultimate wealth attainable by individual­s.
