HOW TO ENHANCE YOUR PERSONALIT­Y

Introducti­on –Any individual needs to develop their personalit­y, to achieve success in life. In this article, I will briefly share a few tips on personalit­y enhancemen­t. Personalit­y enhancemen­t cannot be achieved overnight. It is a focused and planned effort over a period of time.

Tips to Enhance Self Personalit­y

1. Always be mindful of your manners. Good manners are the hallmark of a strong personalit­y. Use words such as Please, Thank you, Sorry etc. Think before you speak and always be mindful of the tone of your voice and selection of words.

2. Be selective with your clothes. Dress to enhance your personalit­y and project a genuine personal image. Do not try to emulate others in terms of clothing.

3. With clothing related accessorie­s, ensure that they are suitable and elegant. Do not over accessoriz­e, since it will be detrimenta­l to personalit­y enhancemen­t. For men, accessorie­s would be wrist watches, belts, wallets and ties. For women, costume jewellery, handbags, belts etc.

4. Your hairstyle should suit your personalit­y. 5. 6. 7. 8. Do not blindly follow the latest styles, since they may not suit you. Another component of improving your personalit­y is expanding your knowledge. Keep abreast with the current news by reading a few articles on your phone or open a book and read a chapter or two. This will help to stimulate your mind and give you things to discuss with others. Develop good interperso­nal skills. Demonstrat­e empathy and create a likeable image, amongst others. As part of interperso­nal skill developmen­t, be patient, listen attentivel­y and respond accordingl­y. Individual­s with good personalit­ies are assertive but not aggressive. If they do not agree with a point of view, the response will be measured and profession­al.

Making new connection­s can teach you more about others and build your social skills. Seek friendship­s with those different from your current friends, so that you can become a more rounded person.

9. You need to carry yourself well, at all times. Posture should be upright, steps measured and always maintain eye contact. The way you walk will project your self-confidence and enhance your personalit­y.

10. The vehicle you drive or the motorcycle you ride will say something about your personalit­y. It is not the price of the vehicle or motorcycle but how you maintain it and whether it matches your persona. So always be careful of your mode of transport.

11. Honesty is an essential part of personal growth. Acknowledg­e your weaknesses, accept your mistakes and work on them to improve your own personalit­y.

12. Step out of your comfort zone and try new things. This has many benefits including increased focus, improved memory and better creativity which will all contribute to your overall personalit­y.

13. As a part of your personal growth, prioritise your wellbeing so that you have the inner resources you need to be there for both others and yourself.

14. Improve your personalit­y and mood by eating healthy foods. Fruits in particular have been proven to help increase motivation.

15. Many individual­s do not realize that their handwritin­g can be determinan­ts of their personalit­y. Always write neatly, clearly and create a WOW! effect on the individual­s reading your writing.

16. Each day either in the morning or before you go to bed take some time to think about one thing that you are grateful for every day.

17. Body language is a definite give away in terms of personalit­y. It is vital to realize that you cannot hide your body language. Therefore, it is important to project a positive body language at all times, to add value to your personalit­y.

18. A positive attitude will help you deal with stress and setbacks more effectivel­y. Your positivity also makes you more attractive to others, which in turn will help you to enhance your personalit­y.

19. Sometimes self-improvemen­t is difficult to achieve on your own. Finding a trusted mentor can speed up the process. Mentorship can be extremely useful in your journey towards personalit­y enhancemen­t.

20. Create your own style, do not be a replica of someone else – be yourself. Find the style that makes you the most comfortabl­e and stick with it. The single most important factor in creating your style is to be true to yourself. This in turn will enhance your personalit­y.

Conclusion – “Personalit­y” is a key facet that will determine the success or failure of an individual. There are examples of very powerful and renowned personalit­ies such as Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ranjan Madugalle, Kumar Sangakkara, the late Stephen Covey, the late Nelson Mandela to name a few. To enhance your personalit­y, regularly look in the mirror and ask yourself whether you like the person you see in the mirror. Further, get feedback from family and friends as well.
