KUWAITI INVESTMENT DELEGATION VISITS SRI LANKA SEEKING INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
A high-level delegation from Kuwait led by Dr. Ahmad Al Harbi, Chairman of Ahmad International Group of Companies (AIC), Kuwait, visited Sri Lanka recently seeking for prospective investment opportunities.
With the economic and political situation of Sri Lanka stabilising rapidly, the Kuwaiti delegation expects Sri Lanka’s economy to grow in the coming years, compared to the previous years.
Ahmad International Group is currently engaged in Agriculture, Livestock and Health Tourism in the Middle East and intends expanding their operation to South Asia through Sri Lanka, considering Sri Lanka’s strategic location.
AIC’s interest in Sri Lanka extends from Agriculture, Dairy, Livestock, Health Tourism to export of niche products that are in high demand in the Middle East.
Having visited and inspected potential land around the country, Dr. Ahmad Al Harbi expressed confidence in investing for successful ventures considering the climatic conditions of the country and the friendly and positive culture
of the people. He also expressed hope that the economic policies of the government would attract further investments to Sri Lanka.
With the backing of the Kuwaiti government AIC Group wishes to have a large footprint in Sri Lanka in various sectors and also intends facilitating other Kuwaiti private & government companies to invest in Sri Lanka, mainly for export from Sri Lanka using the many Free Trade Agreements Sri Lanka has entered with other countries, especially the SAARC region through SAFTA.
During their visit to Sri Lanka they met with high ranking government officials and Ministers and heads of various private sector entities for co-operation, with the assurance of visiting Sri Lanka again in October with firm commitments for the commencement of the proposed investment ventures.
