Established in 2013 with the ambition and dedication towards catering quality education while providing students with an environment which will encourage them to achieve their highest potential, Al Awwal School has grown from strength to strength making a mark on delivering academic excellence and high conduct.

Since its humble beginning the school has been providing an Islamic environment for both male and female students to achieve their academic goals which has produced outstanding students from LKG to higher levels in the Local English stream.

Al Awwal School follows the local curriculum with authentic Islamic education. English being the medium through which the students gain the knowledge, other languages such as Sinhala, Tamil and Arabic are equally introduced. Al Awwal School is one of the few schools in the region to teach four languages in a friendly atmosphere. Nevertheless extracurricular activities too are well balanced with at least six events happening every year. The school conducts swimming and karate as sports in separate clubs with the help of talented coaches.

“We strongly believe that each child is unique. Unless each child is individually attended according to their levels of intellectual it is not at all possible to bring their talents out. Hence, we have small groups of kids being well coached by qualified tutors. “stated the principal of the school Madam F.N.Hamza who is a retired government

English teacher and the founder principal an international school , in Wattala.

Apart from Madam F.N.Hamza’s tremendous service towards the development of the school with her vast experience, another key figure who has contributed and has been instrumental towards its success is Ms. Zahiya Mahir – Head mistress of Al Awwal School, who believes in quality before quantity when it comes to enriching the future of children.

“I would like to extend my heartiest gratitude to all dedicated teachers, staff members and parents who have been pillars of success through the years “stated Ms Zahiya Mahir.

Recently Al Awwal School conducted its annual concert and prize giving, showcasing young minds and talents. The event was graced by award winning media personality and journalist Ms.

Ifthiya Cader as the chief guest who commended the school’s progress and achievements.
