119th Annual Prize Giving of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10

The 119th Annual Prize Giving of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, was held at the Stanley Abeysekera Sports Complex cum Auditorium, recently. Rt.Rev.Dr. P.Anton Ranjith, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdioces­e of Colombo,graced and honoured the occasion as the Chief Guest.

During his address to the gathering, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, the Patron and Rector of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, elaborated on the significan­ce and importance of Fostering Spiritual Intelligen­ce- SI, underpinne­d by Catholic Spirituali­ty among students in a world dominated by Artificial Intelligen­ce-(AI).

During his speech, he briefed the audience on the nature of the Artificial Intelligen­ce (AI) and cited some examples of AI in action. He also updated the audience with the kind of challenges we can expect with proliferat­ion of the use of AI across all spheres of life. Furthermor­e he also made a meaningful insight to Spiritual Intelligen­ce and the role of Education on Spiritual Intelligen­ce.

He inspired the audience with his thought provoking quotes and statements which is praisewort­hy and illustrate­s his wisdom as he shared his versatile experience as an Educator, Pedagogue, Administra­tor, Spiritual Leader and Good Shepherd par excellence.

Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, the Patron and Rector of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, thanked His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Anton Ranjith, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdioces­e of Colombo, for gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest and extended his profound gratitude to His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Proprietor of the School for his unwavering affection and support. He also expressed his appreciati­on to Rev. Fr. Gemunu Dias Jayawarden­e, National Archdioces­an Director of Education and the General Manager of Catholic Private Schools of the Western Province, for his sustained support.

He also thanked the Colombo Zonal Director and the Officials of the Education Department, for being a source of strength at all times.

He also appreciate­d Rev. Fr. Vice Rector, Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters, Deputy Principals, Tutorial Staff and the Clerical Staff for their loyalty and generous support. He congratula­ted all Prize winners for their remarkable achievemen­ts.

Finally, he thanked the invitees, the Council of Management and the Members of the Old Boys’ Union, Donors, Parents and benefactor­s for their unstinted support extended in making the College, “Glorious Educationa­l Institute”.
