Ogawa Scholarshi­p to brighten students’ lives in Deraniyaga­la

The 23rd Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarshi­p Awarding Ceremony was held on Sunday the 17th of September, at Kosgahakan­da Maha Vidyalaya, Deraniyaga­la.

The occasion was graced by the presence of the President of JASTECA, Mr. Chandana Amaratunga, Chairman of Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarshi­p subcommitt­ee, Mr. Parakrama B. Jayatissa and a few members from Executive Committee of JASTECA.

Among other distinguis­hed invitees were; The first Secretary of Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, Mr. Takafumi Nakanishi, Deputy Director of Education (Administra­tion) Zonal Education Office, Dehiowita, Divisional Director of Education, Deraniyaga­la, Divisional Secretary of Deraniyaga­la, Officer-in-Charge, Deraniyaga­la Police, Principals, Vice Principals and teachers of the scholarshi­p recipient schools were also invited.

The scholarshi­p awarding programme was organised by the Japan Sri Lanka Technical & Cultural Associatio­n (JASTECA) with the kind sponsorshi­p by Madam Kiyoko Ogawa, Japan. The scholarshi­ps were awarded to 25 students from 11 schools in Deraniyaga­la Education Territory, in order to pursue their Advanced Level studies despite their financial challenges.

Astron Ltd, Ariya Foods, Atlas Axillia Co. (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon Biscuits Limited, Farmchemie (Pvt) Ltd, Rainco (Pvt) Ltd, DIC Lanka, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC, Kelani Valley Plantation­s PLC, T-Jay Enterprise­s (Pvt) Ltd are few of the many corporate donors who contribute­d material donations to make this noble event a further success. Many generous individual donors also joined hands with us JASTECA to make this event even brighter.
