Minod Caldera spins Nalanda to massive win

Right-arm spinner Minod Caldera stood out for Nalanda College with an impressive match bag of 12 for 53 runs, which paved the way to record a massive 236-run win over Dharmapala MV, Pannipitiy­a in their Under-19 InterSchoo­l cricket encounter concluded at Campbell Place yesterday.

On the second day, Dharmapala resumed from their overnight score of 14 for 6, and were bowled out for 74 runs with left-arm paceman Osanda Pamuditha and Caldera doing the damage.

Batting for the second time, Risath Jayaratne slammed his second half century of the match as Nalanda declared at 180 for 6. Set a massive target of 283 runs for victory, Dharmapala batters succumbed to Caldera, who with his impressive figure of 8 for 21 and bundled them out for a paltry 46 runs.

Left-arm spinner Shakesh Minon and right-arm spinner Nilupul Liyanage shared 16 wickets between as the duo combined with effect to help Wesley College record a 70-run win over Prince of Wales College in the match which ended at Moratuwa.
