Reflecting on 25 Years of Success: Brisbane Internatio­nal School’s Milestones and Achievemen­ts

As Brisbane Internatio­nal School marks its 25th year, a glance back reveals a year of remarkable achievemen­ts and milestones. Among the highlights, Mihindi Weligamage’s exceptiona­l performanc­e in the Edexcel Advanced Level exams stood out, earning her three A stars and the prestigiou­s Pearson Edexcel High Achiever’s award. Currently pursuing a Master’s at the University of Bristol, her success exemplifie­s the school’s commitment to academic excellence.

This year also saw former pupil Thisali Karunarath­ne securing a full scholarshi­p for medicine at Zhenzhou University, China—a testament to the calibr of students nurtured at BIS. Celebratin­g its silver jubilee, the school hosted ‘Brisbane Breeze,’ a vibrant event at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, graced by Mr. Dominic Hudson of the British Council and Professor Sunanda Degamboda from Kelaniya University.

From Montessori to Advanced Level classes and Cambridge Young Learner’s assessment­s, BIS offers a comprehens­ive educationa­l experience. The school’s yearly array of events fosters creativity, leadership, and community spirit among students. Now accepting admissions for the 2023/2024 term, BIS is preparing to launch a cutting-edge Daycare centre in January 2024. This initiative aims to provide a safe and nurturing environmen­t for children of working parents.
