Feel the Sweet Embrace of AkzoNobel’s Colour of the Year 2024

-

AkzoNobel Paints producers of Dulux paints in Sri Lanka- has unveiled its highly anticipated Colour of the Year: Sweet Embrace™. A pastel pink shade inspired by soft feathers and evening clouds, this year’s colour seeks to create the calm and welcoming spaces so many of us crave.

With societies in a state of flux, this welcoming colour is the result of extensive research into global social, design and consumer trends for 2024, which found that, in an uncertain world, we’re on a quest to belong. Starting at home, we’re looking to create our own ‘special somewhere’ that grounds us in our individual memories and relationships.

AkzoNobel’s in-house paints and coatings colour experts and international design professionals believes that Sweet Embrace and its complementary colour palettes can help us achieve just that, and in turn positively influence how we live in the coming year. “These shades enable us to personalize our environments to fit the times we live in, as well as bring a sense of stability and moments of joy to our spaces,” says Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center.

As part of the 2024 ColourFutures™ colour trend report, three complementary colour palettes -warm, calm, and uplifting - have been designed around Sweet Embrace™; offering consumers the flexibility to choose on-trend and harmonious wall colours that reflect their own unique personalities. The warm colour story reminds one of home, a place that feels comfortable and safe, and combines shades of stone, soil and clay. The calm colour story evokes thoughts of nature and the essence of life, bringing together the soft greens and blues of the woods and sea. Lastly, the uplifting colour palette puts smiles on faces with dreamy lilacs and modern yellows.

“Nothing says ‘warm, comforting hug’ like Sweet Embrace” commented Amila Indika, Commercial Head, AkzoNobel Paints Lanka Pvt Ltd., during the launch. “This year’s Colour of the Year, doesn’t just bring comfort and calm to personal living spaces, but also offers market-specific solutions to our customers and inspires longterm design partnerships in our businesses.”
