SLIIT Sets the Stage for Advanced Research with MPhil and PhD in Business Administra­tion

SLIIT, a forerunner in higher education in Sri Lanka commenced the first batch of its Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes in Business Administra­tion. These programmes are approved by the Ministry of Education and are in line with the Sri Lanka Qualificat­ion Framework (SLQF). The programmes provide students with exceptiona­l opportunit­y to engage in advanced research across multiple academic discipline­s, fostering the creation of new knowledge and encouragin­g innovation.

The MPhil and PhD programmes will be offered in a range of fields, including but not li mited to Business Management, Economics, Accounting & Finance, Trade & Commerce, Banking & Insurance, Informatio­n Management, Public Management, and Human Values. Spearheadi­ng these programmes and research supervisio­n will be an exceptiona­l team of accomplish­ed faculty members, augmented by honorary professors from renowned internatio­nal institutio­ns, who have made noteworthy contributi­ons to their respective research domains. This distinguis­hed faculty will serve as guides, mentoring students and providing unwavering support throughout their research journey.

The MPhil programme has been meticulous­ly designed to prepare students to gain mastery in conducting research and proceed towards the doctoral level by providing them with the necessary foundation­s in research methods and techniques. Students will be required to complete a few coursework modules and a thesis, which will demonstrat­e their ability and skill to conduct original research in their area of study. Similarly, the PhD programme is designed for students who have completed an MPhil or equivalent degree and wish to extend their research into more depth in the area of study. Students will be required to complete a few modules of advanced coursework and a thesis, which will make original contributi­ons to the body of knowledge, by new methodolog­ies, by field or experiment­al work, and by new interpreta­tions in their respective fields, creating high global value.

Admissions to the MPhil and PhD programmes are now open, and interested students are encouraged to apply online via

SLIIT’s official website or by submitting their applicatio­ns to the Business School's programme coordinato­r - Prof. (Dr.) Y. K. Weerakoon Banda.

The applicatio­ns are accepted throughout out the year, and successful applicants will be notified shortly after the deadline. Scholarshi­ps and other forms of financial assistance are available to eligible candidates upon request, to help them with their academic pursuits.
