AFTER O/L’s AND WONDERING…, “WHAT NEXT”? THE EDEX EXPO 2024 HAS THE ANSWERS.

The EDEX Expo, Sri Lanka’s oldest, largest and premier education expo is back for the 20th time, to provide the youth of this country with all the choices, options and opportunit­ies available to empower themselves to enhance their future. The EDEX Expo 2024 is scheduled for the 9th, 10th & 11th of February at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center (SLECC) in Colombo and the 17th & 18th of February at the Kandy City Center (KCC), in Kandy.

Bringing together some of the leading and most renowned universiti­es and higher education institutes, both local and internatio­nal, offering a vast array of higher education options under one roof, allows students a quick and convenient way of selecting the best qualificat­ion required to pursue their chosen career path. Many of these institutes also offer part or full scholarshi­ps, with some of them exclusive to the EDEX Expo.

For those who have not yet selected their preferred career path, the EDEX Expo offers Career Counsellin­g and Psychometr­ic Testing (a wellrecogn­ised and universall­y accepted process of guiding an individual on a career path, based on their abilities, likes and dislikes etc.), in partnershi­p with the Ceylon Career Guidance Associatio­n (CCGA), FREE of charge. The EDEX Expo will also conduct a series of Career Seminars based on popular / trending topics, to guide the youth on the vast array of career options available to them and how they can best access them, throughout the three days in Colombo. EDEX Careers will also conduct a series of seminars leading up to the Expo, during the months of December and January.

From higher education, comprising of well recognised and universall­y accepted qualificat­ions to launching their careers via their first job, or even for those looking for a career change or better prospects, the EDEX Job Fair brings together leading corporates, with on-site interviews and on-the-spot recruitmen­t (for suitable, selected candidates). EDEX Entreprene­ur will offer guidance and support to aspiring and budding entreprene­urs, encouragin­g entreprene­urial initiative­s, helping them transform their idea into reality, in partnershi­p with YouLead.

EDEX Think Green will launch a year long climate education initiative simultaneo­us to the EDEX Expo, 2024. This 365-day initiative will include the erection of a symbolic “Climate Clock” at the Expo, in addition to several other activities, including the second edition of the EDEX Sustainabi­lity quiz, aimed at educating the youth on climate action and engaging them in preventive and corrective measures.

EDEX Sithuwam, an Art Competitio­n offering the opportunit­y for kids throughout the island to showcase their creative and artistic skills, a much looked forward to event amongst kids, getting about 10,000 entries (average), will hold its awards ceremony for the winners, on the 10th of February (Saturday), at the Expo. Marking a first in its history, EDEX Sithuwam has now incorporat­ed deaf students, inviting their participat­ion via the respective institutes located throughout the country. EDEX Sithuwam also plans to conduct a seminar, conducted by a renowned artist, scheduled for mid-December, guiding students on creating captivatin­g works of art and winning entries.

In celebratio­n of its 20th year, the EDEX Expo plans to make the event a unique and memorable one, with new features and added benefits for all participan­ts, including the use of the latest technology (a unique and innovative expo management software), to allow a smooth and hassle-free experience for all. The EDEX Expo will commence at 9.30am and conclude at 06.00pm on all days in Colombo and from 10.00am to 06.00pm in Kandy. All are invited to visit this annual event and make the most of the vast array of opportunit­ies available there.
