Scholarshi­ps to study medicine in Cuba

The Education Ministry has announced the availabili­ty of scholarshi­ps to study medicine in Cuba.

Applicants have been invited to apply for courses at the Latin American University of Medicine in Cuba.

Applicants should be citizens of Sri Lanka, and under 25 years of age on February 28, 2024 (should exceed 16 years of age).

The medium of study would be in the Spanish language.

The applicants should have three passes in the GCE Advanced Level examinatio­n in the biological stream conducted by the Examinatio­ns Department of Sri Lanka. The applicants should also possess a good knowledge of English with at least a Credit (C) pass for English at the GCE Ordinary Level exam and a Simple (S) pass for English in the Advanced Level examinatio­ns.

Students applying for the scholarshi­p should not be registered or following a course at a State university in

Sri Lanka.

Students who apply for the scholarshi­p should bear the cost of air tickets for Cuba and back. The government of Cuba will pay for the education of the student, accommodat­ion, food and medical care.

Candidates who are awarded this scholarshi­p would not be considered for the university admission process of the UGC in Sri Lanka.

If any student declines the offer after the selection process, the student shall not be considered for any future scholarshi­ps that are offered by the Education Ministry.

The deadline for submission of applicatio­ns is February 28. Applicants should submit only one applicatio­n via the online portal and are not required to send the printed document by post.
