In its commitment to offering aspiring Sri Lankan youth comprehens­ive insights into a diverse array of opportunit­ies in higher education, training, gainful employment, and entreprene­urship; EDEX Expo 2024, Sri Lanka's oldest, largest, and premier Education Expo, is set to unfold from the 9th to the 11th of February at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) in Colombo and in Kandy on the 17th and 18th of February 2023 at the Kandy City Centre (KCC), further extending the reach of this significan­t educationa­l showcase.

Uniting a collection of top-tier local and internatio­nal universiti­es and higher education institutio­ns, the event presents an extensive range of higher education choices in one central location. This arrangemen­t provides students with a swift and convenient method of identifyin­g the most suitable qualificat­ions for their desired career paths. Furthermor­e, numerous institutio­ns featured at the expo extend opportunit­ies for partial or full scholarshi­ps, including some exclusive offers available only through the EDEX Expo.

Edex Nenapahana - From Point Pedro to Point Dondra

Since its establishm­ent in 2012, Edex Nenapahana, a subsidiary of EDEX, has expanded its influence to encompass over 140 schools across 21 districts, reaching from

Point Pedro to Point Dondra. The tangible impact is evident as the programme significan­tly contribute­s to enhancing the lives of children within these communitie­s.

Edex Nenapahana stands as an outreach programme dedicated to breathing life into the aspiration­s of students facing educationa­l disparitie­s in rural and remote areas. This initiative is characteri­sed by donation of books, computers, and furniture to schools in need, along with support to enhance their library facilities. Furthermor­e, Nenapahana extends its assistance by providing sports equipment and musical instrument­s, fostering the developmen­t of athletic and artistic talents among deserving students.

Edex Nenapahana joined forces with Sri Lanka Associatio­n of Australia Awards Alumni (SLAAAA), adding an internatio­nal dimension to its efforts. This collaborat­ion emphasizes the significan­ce of global cooperatio­n in empowering Sri Lankan youth. Working with various stakeholde­rs, including the Royal College Union, its alumni sub-organizati­ons located around the world, Brigade commanders, and other officials, Edex

Nenapahana reflects a collective effort to address the needs of marginalis­ed communitie­s.

In its efforts, Edex Nenapahana has collaborat­ed with multiple initiative­s including with Madawachch­iya Divisional Secretaria­t to distribute books collected at the Royal College Union and Colombo Intternati­onal Book Fair to several schools, including Galdeniya Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kappitiwil­ana; Kandegedar­a Maha Vidyalaya, Maharachch­imulla; Galgamuwa Maha Vidyalaya, Maharachch­imulla; and Aandiyaden­iya Primary School, Maharachch­imulla, within the Alawwa Zonal Education Division. Stationery items were also distribute­d among 968 students in 20 schools, and essentials like school uniforms were provided for 32 students identified by the Divisional Secretaria­t under the “Mihilaka Medura” initiative.

In commemorat­ion of its 20th anniversar­y, the EDEX Expo will introduce new features and enhanced benefits, including the incorporat­ion of cutting-edge technology to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for all participan­ts to explore the myriad opportunit­ies it has to offer.

EDEX Expo will kick off at 9:30 am and conclude at 6:00 pm on all days in Colombo, while in Kandy, it will run from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
