BWF Level 2 Badminton Coaches Training Programme concludes

With the higher intention of producing quality and well qualified coaches in Sri Lanka, the Coaching and Developmen­t Committee of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) successful­ly conducted a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level 2 course recently. The core intention of this training programme was to impart comprehens­ive training procedures and modules to local badminton coaches, who will be responsibl­e in nurturing the future talents of Sri Lanka in time to come.

The BWF Level 2 training programme, conducted by the SLB Vice President and the head of Coaching and Developmen­t Committee, Buddhika de Silva, had 20 top notch senior badminton coaches from the island, who had been involved with badminton for a long time. Through the training programme SLB intends to adhere quality and up-to-date training methods, which in turn would help enhance the quality of the local competitio­ns conducted by SLB, in addition to producing shuttlers who will be on par with global standards.

The programme included 14 male and six female coaches, who were presented with BWF Level 2 Certificat­es after the completion of the course. Among the six female coaches who took part in the coach’s training programme were – Himali Kanchana de Silva, Chamika Priyadarsh­ani Jayamanna, Renu Chandrika de Silva, Nadeesha Gayathri, Ruvini Chathurika Rathnasiri and Malka Ann Priyangi Fernando. The male coaches were Danushka Nilanga Fernando, Dushan Anuruddhik­a, Dhammika Wanigaseka­ra, Mahesh Ekanayake, Ajith Upendra Perera, Duminda Niroshan de Silva, Subash Janaka de Silva, Prabhoda Bimal Kotalawala, T. Kamalan, Sandun Tharaka Fernando, Hasitha Chanaka, Mohamed Shifad, Rajitha Sandeepana Dahanayake and Danushka Kannangara, who completed the batch of 20 coaches.
