Sivanoo Sathiyamoo­rthy: First upcountry office employee to receive MBA

The Universiti­es Grants Commission-approved AIBT Campus conducted its 2023 graduation ceremony at the Bandaranai­ke Memorial Internatio­nal Conference Hall recently.

Sivanoo Sathiyamoo­rthy became the first upcountry office employee to receive an MBA (Sp) Hons (General Management) degree in Master of Business Administra­tion (MBA).

He said his future goal is to acquire a Doctorate (PhD) in Business Administra­tion and use it towards high performanc­e and efficient management and thanked everyone who helped him in every way in his developmen­t.

He previously completed a Postgradua­te Diploma in Business Administra­tion PGDip (Busi Mgnt), a Diploma in Human Resource Management Dip (HRM), and a Diploma in Office Administra­tion Dip (OA).

The son of a plantation worker, he works as an administra­tive executive in the regional office of Maskeliya Plantation­s PLC.

One of his sons, a diploma graduate, Sathiyapra­deep is an Assistant Plantation Manager in Kegalle Plantation­s, another son Sathiyapra­dhap is a final year student of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, and his daughter Sathiyapri­yanga is a final year student of the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo.

He received his junior and senior education in Bogawantal­awa Elbedde Tamil Vidyalayam, Norwood TMV, Bogawantal­awa Holy Rosary TMV and Hatton Highlands College.

The senior board directors, chief executive officer, general manager, assistant general manager, plantation managers, relevant officials of Maskeliya Plantation­s, relatives and friends wished him the fulfillmen­t of his future ambitions.

Maskeliya represente­d the plantation and participat­ed in the four-day workshop organised by the National Institute of Plantation Management (NIPM).

He is a noteworthy achiever in the 200-year history of the plantation people.

Sri Lanka Tourism Developmen­t Authority former president Kimarli Fernando was also present on the occasion.
