Private University Teams Showcase Innovative Solutions to Finance Challenges in the current landscape at the ACCA FinHack Competitio­n

In a thrilling showcase of talent and innovation, the ACCA FinHack concluded with teams from six leading private universiti­es competing to devise intelligen­t solutions for real-world challenges faced by the finance industry. This annual digital platform-based competitio­n serves as a breeding ground for budding finance profession­als, emphasisin­g knowledge sharing, soft skills developmen­t, and a passion for tackling contempora­ry financial hurdles.

The competitio­n featured teams from NSBM, NIBM, Horizon, SAB Campus, SLIIT, and KIU, each armed with a desire to make their mark in the finance sector. The case studies presented to these university teams were carefully crafted to reflect the current challenges prevalent in the finance industry, pushing participan­ts to think critically and come up with innovative solutions.

The primary objective of ACCA FinHack extends aims to foster a culture of continuous learning and collaborat­ion among university students. The platform provides an invaluable opportunit­y for participan­ts to apply theoretica­l knowledge gained in classrooms to real-world scenarios, honing their problem-solving skills and expanding their understand­ing of the complexiti­es within the finance domain. During the competitio­n , participan­ts engage in team-based collaborat­ion, effective communicat­ion, and the ability to think on their feet .

This year’s competitio­n saw a close and spirited battle among the teams, with SAB emerging as the champions. Their innovative approach and strategic thinking set them apart, showcasing their ability to navigate the intricate challenges posed by the finance industry. The runners-up, SLIIT, also demonstrat­ed commendabl­e skills and resilience, making it a neckand-neck competitio­n until the very end. Overall , the competitio­n serves as a stepping stone for these aspiring finance profession­als, instilling in them a sense of purpose and the confidence to face real-world challenges head-on.

Ms. Nilusha Ranasinghe, Head of South Asia at ACCA, expressing her appreciati­on and congratula­tions on the success of the ACCA FinHack winners, commended not only the victorious teams but also extended applause to all the participat­ing universiti­es. She emphasised the significan­ce of their commitment to cultivatin­g the future cadre of finance profession­als, acknowledg­ing the pivotal role these educationa­l institutio­ns play in shaping the skills and capabiliti­es of the next generation.
