The EDEX ‘Job Fair’ and ‘Careers Portal’ 2024 aims to enable the youth to have an open mind and reach excellence in their chosen vocation

-

Commencing its journey in 2004, the EDEX Expo has played a pivotal role over its 20-year evolution, aiding students in urban, rural, and remote areas by providing awareness of choices, options, and opportunities in post-secondary education leading to gainful employment. From its origins as a school career fair, it has grown into a respected name in the education sector, steadfast in its mission to empower Sri Lankan youth for global competitiveness and reach the pinnacle of achievement.

The EDEX ‘Job Fair’ and ‘Careers Portal,’ integral components of the EDEX Expo, are set to take place on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of February at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center (SLECC) in Colombo, and on the 17th and 18th of February at the Kandy City Center (KCC) in Kandy. The Job Fair, featuring representatives from leading Sri Lankan corporates, will provide on-site interviews and immediate recruitment opportunities. This year’s Fair has garnered significant interest from the banking sector, with Sampath Bank joining as the Job Fair Partner of the EDEX Expo 2024. Sirasa TV, the Official Media Partner, will also be present, offering insights into the media industry and career opportunities at Sri Lanka’s premier network.

“A countless number of students have benefited from this event over the years. The job fair associated with the expo this year will also open a window of opportunity for the participants to interact with prospective employers and look for employment opportunities most suited to their specific ambitions and qualifications,”

“The EDEX Expo, the largest and most sought-after education exhibition, is being held during a time when our country is trying to achieve the dream of becoming the knowledge hub of the region.”

The EDEX Expo would be an ideal platform and a step forward in this direction. EDEX Careers will offer psychometric testing facilities, conducted by professional career guidance counselors, for both students and job seekers of all ages. This will help them determine the best career paths for their individual personalities and traits. Additionally, the event will include career seminars conducted by leading professionals and subject experts, covering key trending topics.

The EDEX Expo has a longstanding affiliation with the ‘Ceylon Career Guidance Association’ (CCGA), serving as a “Strategic Partner,” with professional counselors present in full force at the Expo to offer free career guidance to the nation’s next generation.

The Careers Team works diligently to identify the most popular and trending career topics, enlisting relevant experts to conduct insightful, mini-seminars, typically running for about half an hour. Such is the relevance of the content shared by expert resource personnel that participants of the Expo have been known to attend solely to join the respective seminars. This year, the EXPO will feature 15 seminars in Colombo and, for the first time, 4 seminars in Kandy.

In commemoration of its 20th anniversary, the EDEX Expo will introduce several new features and enhanced benefits, including the incorporation of cuttingedge technology to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience for all participants exploring the myriad opportunities it has to offer.
