Once you complete your secondary schooling you need to look hard as to Career guidance the mix of careers you are passionate about and select most that suits your future ambitions. Career guidance by professionals is of utmost importance at this stage. Your passion may be one thing but whether you have the academic requirements to enter into that career, whether that career has growth potential in future years without getting stagnated and whether its international employment opportunities will not diminish are factors that are vital aspects one needs to consider.

Universities all over the world offer courses at under and post graduate level in all major disciplines. The title may differ from university to university but the end product will remain the same. It is no different in Australia too. The Australian universities too offer courses that will enable students to qualify and enter into related careers. However, if one is looking forward to live and work in Australia upon graduation or work in an international environment or wanting to be a highly wanted professional upon return to Sri Lanka, then the chosen career needs to be one that has high demand for years to come. It is this aspect that is vital to be correctly decided upon before enrolling in a course of study. You are spending a fair sum of money to study abroad and if at the end you are a mediocre graduate with not much demand, all that effort, time and money is wasted. This is what Edlocate provides students through its experienced counsellors and their efforts are enhanced by the input from university representatives who are attending the two events and are able to be met in person.

The disciplines that lead to careers that mostly fit the above criteria in Australia and internationally are as follows:

• Health

Business

Design

Education & Teaching Engineering

Sciences

Information & Computer Technology Legal and Social

Arts & Media

Within each of these major disciplines there are numerous careers some of which lead to high demand for years to come. Each of these careers under the disciplines need to be achieved through the related degree courses. For example, under health, apart for medicine or dentistry there are openings for many professionals like Biotechnologists Microbiologists, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Varied types of Therapists, Speech Pathologists etc.

This is an excellent opportunity to get career guidance to match your aspirations and passion coupled with academic achievements, capabilities, financial resources and many other factors. It is also an opportunity to obtain firsthand information on whether you can enrol directly or through a pathway programme and scholarship opportunities available for international students. All participating universities provide excellent scholarships for high-achieving students, and some institutions have introduced special scholarships for Sri Lankan students.
