Internatio­nal conference on research held at Eastern University

An internatio­nal conference on ‘Sustainabi­lity, Innovation, Interdisci­plinary Research for Tomorrow’s Challenges’ jointly organised by the Center for Multidisci­plinary Research, Eastern University, Tamil Nadu University of Teacher Education, Sri Lanka and ESN Publishing, India was held at the Eastern University recently.

Eastern University ViceChance­llor Prof V Kanagasing­ham made the opening speech, and Ranjith Senaratne, Senior Professor of Crop Science, Faculty of Agricultur­e, University of Ruhuna University participat­ed as the chief guest.

“The problems of the country will be solved through science. Therefore, the National Science Forum and the Sri Lanka Science and Technology Associatio­n are ready to join hands with the academics in the multi-disciplina­ry field and provide them with the facilities they need,” Prof Senaratne said.

The event was chaired by Eastern University Professor A G Jonpillai, and the founder and editor of ESN Publishing

India, Kalanidhi J Banushande­r, Batticaloa Government President and District Secretary J J Muralithar­an participat­ed.

Assistant Professors from Tamil Nadu University of Teacher Education were the main speakers of the conference. Kalanidhi V Sarmila participat­ed in the event and Dr Nidhi Kanaratnam, a naturopath­ic doctor and nutritiona­l consultant from Australia, participat­ed in the event and delivered a speech. Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University Registrar Prof Naga Subramani attended and delivered a special speech.

162 research papers were submitted for the conference from Sri Lanka, India and Nepal and 138 papers have been accepted.

Conference Committee Secretary and Director of the Station for Multidisci­plinary Research Prof P Rodney Penanto moderated the events.
