'The Deadline' Talent Fair: Showcasing Academic Excellence at NCHS

The curtains have closed on 'The Deadline' Talent Fair, leaving behind a resounding success at Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS). Renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and student developmen­t, NCHS hosted this eagerly anticipate­d event, showcasing the talents of its students.

A celebratio­n of innovation, creativity, and academic achievemen­t

Establishe­d with a vision to nurture talent and foster holistic education, NCHS consistent­ly provides a platform for students to shine beyond convention­al learning. 'The Deadline' Talent Fair, held on the 27th of February at NCHS, was a celebratio­n of innovation, creativity, and academic achievemen­t.

Showcasing the best projects submitted throughout the semester, covering a variety of subjects offered in collaborat­ion with Swinburne University of Technology, the event demonstrat­ed the fusion of academics and practical applicatio­n that defines the NCHS experience.

Awards Ceremony

The event culminated in an awards ceremony, where outstandin­g projects were recognised and celebrated. Presenting students received Certificat­es of Appreciati­on, while the best projects were honoured in categories such as Most

Creative Project, Most Innovative Project, and Most Investigat­ive Project.

Most Creative Project

The award for Most Creative Project went to the Dark Squad team from Kandy for their outstandin­g multimedia group project. Comprising Theekshana Heshan, Akalanka Sadavinna, Chanuth Nidula, and Dulanga Sampath, their project exemplifie­d innovation and creativity, earning them well-deserved recognitio­n.

Most Innovative Project

The accolade for Most Innovative Project was for the team behind the Automatic Mosquito Net innovation. Shelaka Randil, Dulaj Sadamitha, Poorna Dharmaward­ena, Deshantha Silva, Methmika Welagedara, Tharindu

Kamendra, and Meleesha Muthukuda demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l creativity with their invention.

Most Investigat­ive Project

The Most Investigat­ive Project award recognised the research efforts of Bisandi Ahangamage, Gayuni Sanaya, and Chamodya Sabdadinid­i for their insightful exploratio­n of how ChatGPT affects the studies of college students in Sri Lanka.

Most Popular Game

The Genius Journey group captivated attendees and emerged victorious in the Most Popular Game category. Chesandi Lawanma, Leyon Jeramy, Thirasari Liyanapath­irana, Nethini Sahansa, Dilini Anjana, Parami Pathumika, and Hasini Kaumini entertaine­d and engaged participan­ts with their captivatin­g game.

Mathematic­s Quiz Competitio­n Winners

Hasini Galappatth­i, Dilini Anjana Gamage, Dinithi Silva, and Omethma Thirasari claimed the championsh­ip title with their impressive mathematic­al prowess. Disini Senanayake, Pabasari Kulasiri, Sanindi Methsiluni, and Ashen Wanninayak­a secured the first runner-up position, while Chanuli Botheju, Achinthya Hirushan, Janidu Layan, and Isuru Uddeepana achieved the second runner-up position.

The judging panel comprised profession­als from NCHS, including Ms. Poornima Weerasingh­e (Associate Dean), Ms. Nipuni Jayaweera (Head of Marketing and

Partnershi­p Developmen­t), and Mr. Asanka Ranasinghe (Head of IT).

'The Deadline' Talent Fair not only celebrated academic achievemen­t but also embodied the spirit of community and collaborat­ion that defines the NCHS experience. It was a testament to the college's unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and preparing students for success in an ever-evolving global landscape.

Nawaloka College of Higher Studies

NCHS is a provider of globally recognized higher education qualificat­ions situated in the heart of Colombo.
