Second International Conference on Frontiers in Chemical Technology
The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon proudly presents the Second International Conference on Frontiers in Chemical Technology (FCT-2) endorsed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). This prestigious conference will be held from June 20-22, 2024, at the Marino Beach Hotel in Colombo. It is the proud successor of FCT1, successfully held in 2020.
The conference will be of utmost significance to anyone from any region, as the prime aim of this conference is to construct a bridge between Industries and Scientists around the globe. In order for the modern world to progress and cultivate innovations, a synergy between the arena of Science and the Industrial sector is essential. This conference is anticipated to accomplish that task.
In accordance with the theme for the current council year “Chemical Science for Technological Advancement: Empowering the Future,” this conference will delve into five pivotal areas shaping the future of chemical technology: (1) Energy: Exploring Sustainable and Cost-Effective Solutions, (2) Environment: Addressing Climate Change, Pollution, and Green Chemistry Initiatives, (3) Medicine: Innovations in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical, and Herbal Technology, (4) Waste: Strategies for Management, Value Addition, and Circular Economy, and (5) Food: Ensuring Security, Safety, and Quality.
Dr. Ale Palermo, Head of Global Inclusion at the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, is to grace the event as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Sabu Thomas, ViceChancellor and Professor at Mahatma Gandhi University, India, would be the Guest of Honor. Distinguished scientists from around the globe, including Prof. Nimal Punyasiri, Prof. Dinesh Mohan, Prof. Nolene Byrne, and Prof. Sammer Yousuf, will deliver insightful plenary lectures, while nine keynote speeches will further enrich the conference’s breadth of knowledge.
Additionally, two panel discussions focusing on women in chemistry and the chemical industry will shed light on critical issues of diversity and industry development. A special technical session dedicated to chemical education in the agenda hopes to inspire the next generation of chemists. Prior to the main event, two pre-conference sessions will be conducted, focusing on career guidance and chemical education, aimed at providing valuable insights and opportunities for professionals and students alike.
In response to author demand, the abstract submission deadline has been extended until the 15th of March 2024. The organizing committee encourages & invites submissions from budding & established researchers alike to this platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
Registration for participants is open to all individuals passionate about chemistry. Meals will be provided throughout the three-day event, offering ample opportunities for networking and collaboration.
