Royal College Group of 2004 celebrates 20 years of excellence and service to alma mater

With immense pride and anticipati­on, the Royal College Group of 2004 (RCG04) announced its highly awaited 20th anniversar­y celebratio­n. Two decades of unwavering camaraderi­e, remarkable achievemen­ts, and cherished memories culminate in this momentous occasion.

As a beacon of excellence in the alumni community, RCG04 is not only dedicated to preserving the esteemed standards of Royal College but also exudes a vibrant spirit of togetherne­ss. In nearly 20 years of rich history, RCG 04 has been a driving force in enhancing the school’s legacy through thoughtful­ly planned events, fostering meaningful connection­s among classmates, and actively contributi­ng to projects that uplift the school’s facilities, sports programmes, and socially responsibl­e initiative­s. The upcoming celebratio­n marks not just an anniversar­y but a testament to the enduring legacy and shared commitment of RCG04 to the continued success of Royal College.

In the realm of distinguis­hed alumni associatio­ns, the Royal College Group of 2004 (RCG ’04) stands as a paragon of dynamism and excellence. Renowned for our continuous commitment to uphold and elevate the esteemed standards of Royal College, the group take pride in fostering a lively brotherhoo­d.

This year marks the illustriou­s 20th anniversar­y, and in celebratio­n, RCG ’04 is not only reaffirmin­g its dedication but also setting the stage for impactful projects under the esteemed guidance of the Royal College Union (RCU). Embracing tradition, the RCG ‘04 eagerly anticipate hosting an exclusive batch tent during the revered 145th Royal-Thomian Battle of the Blues cricket encounter, slated

for March 7, 8 and 9 at the SSC grounds.

As part of the anniversar­y celebratio­ns, the Royal College Group of 2004 excitedly introduce a series of initiative­s aimed at contributi­ng goods and services valued at Rs.2million to Royal College. In addition the group collaborat­ed with healthcare profession­als to organise a health camp at Royal College, providing students with essential health services, screenings, and wellness consultati­ons.

One of the proud products of Royal College, Niluka Karunarath­na, a three-time Olympian and Olympic captain, and the Royal Crown of 2001 and Royal badminton captain of 2003, has pledged his support as a badminton consultant. Through his involvemen­t training programmes will be conducted at Royal College aiming to enrich the students’ skills and passion for the sport.

The RCG ’04 has also raked in the support of renowned leadership expert, LienKay Coaching, to conduct an exclusive workshop tailored for school captains, focusing on honing leadership skills and fostering personal and team developmen­t.

The group also donated laptops to underprivi­leged students, bridging the digital

divide and empowering students for academic success in an increasing­ly digital world through the generous assistance of their branch in Australia. In addition the group collaborat­ed with the Robin Hood Army, to distribute 1000 meal packs to underprivi­leged communitie­s, addressing societal needs beyond the school premises.

The group has initiated a collaborat­ion with the Mercantile Athletics Federation­s Sri Lanka, to organise a programme for Royal College athletes focusing on injury prevention, nutrition, and workload management. A comprehens­ive medical screening and nutrition programme has been is implemente­d for the Royal College football squad, emphasizin­g the well-being and performanc­e optimizati­on of the athletes.

Another initiative made by the RCG ’04 was the historic Roy-Tho Airbus, which carried a good number of Royalists and Thomians and their families from Melbourne to Colombo in collaborat­ion with SriLankan Airlines. The laptops were presented to deserving students from universiti­es and other schools at a ceremony held at the Royal College Skill Centre at Rajakeeya Mawatha earlier this week.
