LOLC launches third phase of Divi Saviya distributi­on

LOLC Divi Saviya has announced the continuati­on of its Phase 03 initiative coinciding with the reopening of schools subsequent to the New Year holidays.

As Phase 03 progresses, LOLC Divi Saviya aims to expand its reach to schools nationwide, with a specific focus on those accommodat­ing 101-150 students. This expansion initiative is poised to encompass over 40 per cent of schools in Sri Lanka, marking a significan­t milestone as the initiative surpasses 4000 schools reached, the company said in a media release.

Distributi­on activities for Phase 03 resumed on April 25th at Sri Indajothi Vidyalaya, Battaramul­la, with the participat­ion of Kapila Jayawarden­a, Group Managing Director/CEO of LOLC Holdings PLC, and Kithsiri Gunawarden­a, Chief Operating Officer of LOLC Holdings PLC. Dr. Susil Premajayan­tha, Minister of Education, graced the event as the guest of honour. Among the attendees were Ms. Udara Dikkumbura, Additional Secretary - School Affairs, Ministry of Education, LOLC staff members, parents, teachers, school students, and other well-wishers.

Since its inception in February 2023, the LOLC Divi Saviya initiative has successful­ly distribute­d essential school materials ranging from exercise books to mathematic­al toolboxes, for students from grades 1 to 13, to over 1400 schools in its inaugural phase, expanding its reach to 1500 schools in the subsequent phase. With the launch of Phase 03, LOLC aims to extend its coverage to an additional 1200 schools, with a total investment exceeding Rs. 2.5 Billion.

The Divi Saviya initiative was honoured for its exceptiona­l humanitari­an endeavour, marking the first time a private sector entity had received such a national-level acknowledg­ment for its impactful efforts in enhancing the educationa­l prospects of the nation's children.
