MinowC wants to reintroduce sandwich project

-

Education, Science and Culture (MinowC) Minister Robert Peneux on Thursday informed Parliament that the ministry wants to relaunch the sandwich project at the nation’s schools. Peneux assured that the ministry would take a closer look at the sandwich project and that it would seek the funds to finance the project because children need food. The minister reportedly made the announcement in response to questions from MP Jenny Warsodikromo (NDP) regarding the school food project that was relaunched in February but which came to an abrupt end. The minister explained that he was forced to stop the project because of the many improprieties that were taking place.

MP Warsodikromo also asked the minister to address the matter of follow-up education for special education in the Commewijne District. The legislator explained that the district only has 4 grades for this type of education where kids can receive education until the age of 15. There is no follow-up education available in the district but parents do not want to send their children all the way to Paramaribo to attend school. Minister Peneux assured the legislator that he and his staff would address the matter.
