Juspol Ministry says crime rate is dropping

-

Justice and Police (Juspol) Minister Jennifer van DijkSilos on Friday presented statistics to Parliament and pointed out that the crime rate dropped after military units started assisting the police. The minister explained that there has been a slight drop in thefts, car burglaries and burglaries since the police and the army went on joint patrols. Van Dijk-Silos pointed out that there were 160 domestic violence cases in January and 15 in August. She pointed out, however, that the number of domestic violence cases is still too high. She is doing her utmost to curb crime. “The ministry and the police force are working hard. We are looking for more partners,” said the minister who added that solving crime requires a good intelligence service. The intelligence service lets the police know where the criminals are. She pointed out that the ministry would teach the people how to be extra cautious. MP Krishna Hussainali-Mathoera (VHP) pointed out that a fast calculation lets one find out that the statistics on burglaries indicate that there were 10 burglaries each day. “That’s too many. I have also noticed that the police give very little attention to burglaries and that only a few cases are actually being solved. I hereby urge the government to focus its attention on burglaries,” said MP Mathoera who used to be a high ranking member of the police force before she became a legislator.
