Sit-down strike at land inspection

-

The Land Inspection Department at the Ministry of Environmental Planning, Land and Forest Management (RGB) has come to a halt because the workers are on a sitdown strike.

MP Rachied Doekhie (NDP) told Times of Suriname that the head of the department has been relieved of his duties. MP Doekhie is not unaware of the reason for the dismissal. The workers are also in the dark as to why the head of their department was relieved of his duties which is why they decided to go on a sit-down strike. MP Doekhie pointed out that the workers claim that the head of their department has done a good job and that they liked working with him. The legislator also pointed out that people come to the RGB Ministry and do a good job but that they are nevertheless removed from office. “Changes do not also have to bring improvements,” said MP Doekhie. CLO union chairman Ronald Hooghart explained that the workers are also dissatisfied about other things. He pointed out that they do not like to work in the building with its hot rooms.
