Pre­si­dent in­stalls new fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner Jak­ha­ri

Pre­si­dent De­si Bou­ter­se on Thurs­day in­stal­led the new fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner, Rad­j­en Jak­ha­ri g. Jak­ha­ri joi­ned the Fi­re De­part­ment on April 1, 1984 and be­ca­me sub­sti­tu­te fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner on Ja­nu­a­ry 1, 2009. On No­vem­ber 23, 2015 he was ap­poin­ted ac­ting fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner af­ter for­mer fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner Ce­cil Waal re­ti­red from ac­ti­ve du­ty. Bou­ter­se poin­ted out that Jak­ha­ri now car­ried main res­pon­si­bi­li­ty for the Fi­re De­part­ment Su­ri­na­me (KBS). He al­so poin­ted out that the new fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner re­cei­ved spe­ci­al trai­ning in Su­ri­na­me and abroad. Jak­ha­ri has al­so been the head of va­rious de­part­ments within the KBS. He and his pre­de­ces­sor we­re in­terns at the Fi­re De­part­ment in the Ne­ther­lands. Ac­cor­ding to Bou­ter­se, Jak­ha­ri is known as a per­son who speaks his mind and who deems team­work, flexi­bi­li­ty and mu­tu­al res­pect as im­por­tant things. The new po­li­ce com­mis­si­o­ner is al­ways wil­ling to other people. “He is the kind of per­son who in­di­ca­tes that he is still learning and who ad­mits his mista­kes. To him ac­cep­tan­ce knows no bounda­ry re­gard­less of rank. Your com­mis­si­o­ner has pro­ven to be the right per­son for the job,” said Bou­ter­se who ur­ged the fire­figh­ters to sup­port their new fi­re com­mis­si­o­ner. Af­ter ha­ving ac­cep­ted his new du­ty Jak­ha­ri poin­ted out that this job is not wit­hout its hu­ge res­pon­si­bi­li­ty and ex­pecta­ti­ons.
