Seeks diplomatic support against Pakistan
India’s Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will reportedly visit Suriname next week. He will reportedly seek diplomatic support against India’s neighbor, Pakistan. India strongly believes that Pakistan support terror groups that make India unsafe and therefore hopes that India’s allies, including Suriname will take a stand against it. Minister Singh has already met with Aashna Kanhai, Suriname’s ambassador in New Delhi. During his visit Minister Singh will also discuss the bilateral ties between both nations. He is also expected to meet with his counterpart in Suriname, Soeresh Algoe.During the meeting with Ambassador Kanhai several topics were discussed. India reportedly wants to help Suriname with agrarian research, scholarships and donations for farmers. India will most likely also count on Suriname’s support in the diplomatic fight against Pakistan. India’s government has reportedly sent representatives to 68 countries to present its case. It reportedly wants a boycott against Pakistan “as long as that country keeps supporting terror groups.” India sees Suriname as a loyal ally especially given the fact that a large diaspora community resides here. The international community is closely monitoring the tensions between India and Pakistan especially given the fact that both nations have nuclear weapons.
