Son re­turns ho­me af­ter pri­son break: Fa­ther calls the po­li­ce

A man on Fri­day cal­l­ed the po­li­ce af­ter his 22-year-old son, JD, re­tur­ned ho­me af­ter ha­ving es­ca­ped from pri­son. The man told Ti­mes of Su­ri­na­me that his son re­tur­ned ho­me and as­ked him to bring him to a re­la­ti­ve who li­ves in the Com­me­wij­ne Dis­trict so that he could hi­de the­re. The man ex­plai­ned that he cho­se to call the po­li­ce be­cau­se he does not want his son’s na­me to ma­ke it to a Wan­ted list. He al­so ex­plai­ned that the­re is al­so a big chan­ce that the po­li­ce will shoot a con­vict who is on the lam. He poin­ted out that he wants to show his son the right path and he al­so wants for his son to start be­lie­ving in God af­ter his re­lea­se from pri­son. “I do not want to teach him evil things such as be­co­ming a fu­gi­ti­ve.” When the son re­tur­ned ho­me, he told his pa­rents that he had not seen him in a long ti­me. He clai­med that e had not re­cei­ved any vi­si­tors in the past 2 months. The con­vict’s fa­ther wor­ked in the hin­ter­land whi­le his mo­ther had other com­mit­ments. The boy ex­plai­ned that he found it frus­tra­ting that he did not get any vi­sits from them. The pri­son sen­ten­ce see­med even hars­her which is why he cho­se to break out of pri­son. The man who has as­su­red his son that he would vi­sit him eve­ry week ex­plai­ned that his son on­ly has to spend 4 mo­re months in pri­son. JD was found guil­ty of ha­ving sto­len goods in a su­per­mar­ket and was sen­ten­ced to one year and fi­ve months in pri­son. JD re­por­ted­ly kept loo­king out­si­de af­ter he had re­tur­ned ho­me. The po­li­ce even­tu­al­ly showed up and sur­roun­ded the hou­se. The young man then hid in the at­tic but even­tu­al­ly de­ci­ded to sur­ren­der.JD has re­por­ted­ly been pla­ced in so­li­ta­ry con­fi­ne­ment.
