2 big drug busts in Europe
Investigators from Europe recently indicated that there could be a link between two recent drug busts. It I suspected that the drugs could originate from Suriname or Brazil. French media on Friday indicated that 508 kilos of cocaine were found and seized in a container that was shipped from Suriname. Another big drug bust reportedly took place in Rotterdam on Tuesday. Dutch media reported that 220 kilos of cocaine had been intercepted. Investigators believe that a well-organized Brazilian drug gang is trying to get its cocaine in Europe and that the gang is using Suriname as a transit port. The European authorities have already launched an investigation to determine the origin of the cocaine in both cases. The cocaine that was intercepted in France was reportedly put in sporting bags that were hidden in a rice shipment. The drugs had been put on a ship that had left Suriname for the French island of Guadeloupe and France. The drug shipment was intercepted in the port of Dunkirk near the border with Belgium. There are strong indications that the cocaine originated from Brazil. The drugs that were found in Rotterdam has an estimated street value of around 6 million Euros. Investigators are certain that the drugs came from Brazil. The cocaine was hidden in a batch of fruit pulp that was hidden between barrels of oil from Brazil. Dutch investigators are checking to see if there is a connection between two cases. The Public Relations Department at the Police Force Suriname (KPS) pointed out that it still has not received any official information regarding the cocaine that had been found in Surinamese container. No arrests have been made yet.
