Man kills wife and commits suicide

Persaud Harilal (46) on Sunday killed his 32-yearold wife, Carol Dhurman, before taking his own life in a house located along the Kasjoemastraat in Paramaribo. Both bodies have been taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. A neighbor told Times of Suriname that she had heard the man and his wife quarreling. She called the police while walking towards her neighbors’ house. When she was in front of the house, she heard the woman screaming loudly but she was afraid to enter the yard. A police unit arrived shortly afterwards. Police officers stumbled upon the lifeless body of the woman before coming across the man’s body. The man allegedly strangled the woman before hanging himself. The neighbor claimed that it was the first time that she had heard the couple arguing which is why she went over to investigate.
