Suspect jumps out of police car
A suspect this week jumped out of a police car despite the fact that he was handcuffed. After the suspect had jumped out of the patrol car, he jumped into the Saramacca Channel where he hid for a while. Police officers who searched the area, eventually spotted him and pulled him out of the water. The suspect had sustained some minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The man had been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted assault/ murder. When police officers showed up at his home and questioned him about his alleged involvement in a robbery case, the man became aggressive. The man who was under the influence of alcohol, started to cuss at the police officers. He also made it clear that he would take matters into his own hands if the police did not close the case. He eventually grabbed a machete and started to swing it in the direction of the police officers. The police officers then arrested the suspect who was also armed with a dagger.
