Sus­pect jumps out of po­li­ce car

A sus­pect this week jum­ped out of a po­li­ce car de­spi­te the fact that he was hand­cuf­fed. Af­ter the sus­pect had jum­ped out of the patrol car, he jum­ped in­to the Saramacca Chan­nel whe­re he hid for a whi­le. Po­li­ce of­fi­cers who searched the area, even­tu­al­ly spot­ted him and pul­led him out of the wa­ter. The sus­pect had sustai­ned so­me mi­nor in­ju­ries and was ta­ken to the hos­pi­tal for me­di­cal tre­at­ment. The man had been ar­re­sted on sus­pi­ci­on of rob­be­ry and at­temp­ted as­sault/ mur­der. When po­li­ce of­fi­cers showed up at his ho­me and ques­ti­o­ned him about his al­le­ged in­vol­ve­ment in a rob­be­ry ca­se, the man be­ca­me ag­gres­si­ve. The man who was un­der the in­flu­en­ce of al­co­hol, star­ted to cuss at the po­li­ce of­fi­cers. He al­so ma­de it clear that he would ta­ke mat­ters in­to his own hands if the po­li­ce did not clo­se the ca­se. He even­tu­al­ly grab­bed a ma­che­te and star­ted to swing it in the di­rec­ti­on of the po­li­ce of­fi­cers. The po­li­ce of­fi­cers then ar­re­sted the sus­pect who was al­so ar­med with a dag­ger.
