Man dead after bee attack

-

Soeradjpersad Soekhoe (57) died on Saturday after having been attacked by Brazilian bees. The attack reportedly took place along the Sahadewstraat at Kwatta. Fire Department spokesman Olton Pinas pointed out that there was a pile of garbage in the bushes and that the bees were in a wooden box located under a broken washing machine.

The Fire Department Suriname (KBS) rushed to the scene after having been informed that Brazilian bees had attacked two children. Pinas pointed out that the children who are eleven and twelve years old were rushed to the Emergency Room in an ambulance.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw many people standing in front of a store located along the Dagoebladstraat which is in the vicinity of the Sahadewstraat. The firefighters decided to take a look and saw police officers standing near a man who was sitting on a wooden bench in front of the store. The police officers told the firefighters that the man had most likely been attacked by bees. The man had reportedly told a bystander that he was not feeling well. The people who were in the vicinity were going to take him to the Emergency Room but decided to notify the police when they realized that his health was declining. The bees had reportedly stung the man’s arms. A doctor, summoned to the scene, indicated that the man had died as a result of the bee attack. The firefighters then exterminated the bees.
