Police force beefs up surveillan­ce

The Police Force Suriname KPS) will beef up its surveillan­ce during the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve. Police Commission­er Agnes Daniel told

that the police force is gearing up to provide the community additional safety. One of the most important activities of December is the traffic situation.

The police commission­er pointed out that there is an increase in traffic around this period and that this often annoys people. She explained that guiding traffic will be one of the biggest efforts of the police. The police will mainly focus on surveillan­ce in order to maintain law and order by making sure that police units remain visible at all times. Roadblocks will be set up at various locations. Daniel pointed out that the surveillan­ce and roadblocks operations will be carried out nationwide and especially at locations where there are many people. “We are well aware of the bustle in the center of Paramaribo. also flock to many more locations outside the city. The police will not only be in Paramaribo. We will be present at locations where there are high concentrat­ions of people. The police will also attend the annual fire cracker relay and other events.”
