Father mowed down and killed by Land Rover
UK A father of two young girls didn’t make it home for Christmas after he was killed by a car in a tragic accident. Ross Cowling was walking home on Christmas Eve to see his two daughters, aged 10 and eight, when he was hit by a Land Rover. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene in Luton. The 37yearold’s family paid tribute to him on Monday in a statement which said: “Ross was a loving father, brother, uncle and son and we are all absolutely devastated.’He had been on his way home to spend Christmas with his family. Ross leaves two young daughters, aged 10 and eight. We are all heartbroken.” Tributes also poured in for the father online after police shared the family’s statement. Mr Cowling, from Luton, died from horrific injuries he suf fered when he was in hit by a green Land Rover Defender at 5.35pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save his life after an area in Maulden Road, Flitwick, was cordoned off and a police investigation was launched. A spokesman for Bedfordshire Police said that officers investigating his death had spoken to the driver but was not arrested at the scene. It was understood that Mr Cowling was hit while he was on the road and the driver was said to be helping officers with the investigation. Forensic collision investigator police constable Ed Colley has appealed for further witnesses to come forward to police after he examined the scene of the collision and was due to submit a report to the coroner for Bedfordshire.
