1 road death and 6 injured on Christmas

Police reports indicate that a traffic accident claimed 1 life while 3 people were seriously injured. 16-year-old Shaquille Boi was reportedly driving a car that flipped over along the Luitenant Weyneweg in Albina on the first day of Christmas. Police Chief Franklin Amier confirmed that the driver had not survived the traffic accident. The teenager was reportedly speeding and driving recklessly in a car that belongs to a relative. Three of his friends were also in the car. When the teenager who did not have a driver’s license was near the roundabout in Albina, he lost control over the steering wheel before the car flipped over. A bystander witnessed the accident while others heard a loud bang. Everybody who had heard the noise flocked to the scene of the accident. They also notified the police before pulling the boys out of the wreckage. The driver’s friends were taken to neighborin­g French Guiana for medical treatment. It is not clear if the teenager had asked for permission before taking the car. The driver’s body was taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Shaquille Boi is officially the 71st road death in Suriname and the 1st in Albina. 3 people were also injured in a traffic collision that took place at the crossing of the Indira Gandhi- and the Groot Blijdensho­opweg on Monday morning. The injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
