Nephew sold drugs for King Koyeba

-

A 19-year-old man on Monday told the court that he occasionally sold drugs for his uncle, Lowinso M (31), who is generally known as local artist King Koyeba. He explained that he sold the drugs for SRD 5 and that he handed the money over to his uncle. He did not know that selling drugs in a house is punishable by law but he did know that it is against the law to sell it on the streets. District Attorney Shanta Mahadew told the teenager that the possession and sale of marijuana is absolutely forbidden. The young man also told Judge Siegline Wijnhard that marijuana was found in his schoolbag and that he had received it from his uncle but that he did not know where his uncle had obtained it. The young man explained that he lived with his uncle and that his uncle took care of him. “I did not receive any commission after I had sold the drugs,” said the teenager who had reportedly told the police that he had received the drugs from Jurmaine A, the second suspect in this case, because he had brought the police to his address. The police reportedly found marijuana and ziplock bags. “I had to hold the ziplock bags for my uncle,” said the teenager who was caught with 540 grams of marijuana in his possession. The teenager admitted that he had been selling the drugs or several weeks. He attended classes at a local high school and occasionally received money from his uncle. The teenager claimed that he had seen Jurmaine A twice at his uncle’s home. King Koyeba ‘s birthday is on January 11 but he will spend the day behind bars because he is scheduled to appear in court again on January 23. Both suspects who are being represented by defense attorneys Raoul Lobo and Lygia Palmburg will reportedly be questioned in court that day.
