-

The police on Wednesday burnt 978.05 kilograms of cocaine at Kraka. The cocaine had been intercepted at the nation’s international harbor, Nieuwe Haven. Police Chief Guno Roosenhoff confirmed that the cocaine had gone up in flames after the Central Laboratory had confirmed that the substance was indeed cocaine. The cocaine was destroyed under the watchful eyes of a member of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Roosenhoff explained that police officials opted to destroy the drugs at Kraka because the area is not densely populated. In the past the police destroyed drugs at Meerzorg but the residents kept complaining about the smoke. Investigators have already arrested 8 male and 3 female suspects in this drug case. The two customs officers who were also arrested insist that they are innocent. The police intercepted the huge drug shipment after having received a tip. The police raided the harbor with the help of customs inspectors. The drug shipment reportedly had a street value of about 3 million euros. Roosenhoff pointed out that the prime suspect still has not been identified but that only helpers have been arrested so far.
