6 siblings adopted by same family
USA - Christopher and Christina Sanders more than doubled the size of their family on Thursday when they adopted their six foster children. The four boys and two girls, who are siblings, join the Sanders’ five biological children. Probate Judge Ralph Winkler welcomed a courtroom full of well-wishers, family and media for the formal adoption ceremony on April 27. “This is why I’m here”, Winkler said. “This is why I’m the adoption judge. Days like this.”
Carson, Caylee, Caleb, Christian, Coby and Chloe have shared the Sanders’ Forest Park home with their five biological children Christopher, Cayden, Chazz, Caitlyn and Cameron.
The boys have been there since December 2014. Their two sisters moved in last October. State law requires that the foster children live with the family for 6 months before adoption. It was six months on Thursday.
“This is basically a wonderful day,” said 12-year-old Caylee Marie Sanders. “Because not many people would want to take 6 kids and this is just amazing because I get to be with my brothers for the rest of my life.”
The newly adopted children range in age from 16 to 9. The Sanders’ biological children are 19, 14, 12, 11, and 10.
“We just can’t be any happier,” said Christopher Sanders after court adjourned. “It’s been a long time coming and we got it done.” “I always tell them to pat themselves on the back because they did it. They did it”, said Christina Sanders while fighting back tears.
The newly adopted children changed their names so every family member would have the same initials: C.M.S. Christopher Sanders rented a 15-passenger van so the entire family could come to court in the same vehicle. It usually takes at least two cars to get everyone on the road. Winkler said the Sanders family is a great example of how caring people can impact lives.
“That’s my hope that other people will foster or adopt or foster to adopt because there are so many kids out there who are beautiful and need our help.” (WKRC)
