Purchasing power boost also for hospital workers

-

Vice President Ashwin Adhin on Monday announced that the purchasing power boost will also be paid to workers with equal status. VP Adhin explained to Times of Suriname that the government first focused on the state employees and contractors after having made the first calculations. Hospital workers who have equal status with state employees will also receive a purchasing power boost. The VP explained that the Health minister sent the necessary calculations for the hospitals to him last week. The VP then contacted the Finance minister who assured him that the workers with equal status and the remaining state employees would receive the purchasing power boost as soon as possible. The VP assured that the purchasing power boost would also be paid to those groups. He also pointed out that he is aware of the delay in the payment of subsidies. “We know and we complain. We hear complaints from foundations who want to know when they will receive their subsidy.” The VP made it clear that the government has often explained that if the financial records are in order, the government can calculate the salaries and their components. The workers at private hospitals also want the purchasing power boost and at the unions at the St Vinventius Ziekenhuis and the Diakonessenhuis are on the move. The unions have already presented their demands to the management team at these hospitals. Contrary to the private hospitals, the workers at the government hospitals are eligible for the purchasing power boost. State employees will receive a purchasing power boost of SRD 375 during the period April to June and from August to December they will receive SRD 500.
