VP holds talks with private hospitals

-

Vice President Ashwin Adhin also wants to help the nation’s private hospitals by giving their employees a purchasing power boost. The VP discussed the matter with the directors at Diakonessenhuis and the St Vincentius Ziekenhuis (SVZ) and the State Health Insurance Fund (SZF) in order to address the issue. “Healthcare and the entire law around it must be adjusted. The way which the government finances must also be adjusted so that no lightning strikes can be held. This is namely a side effect but if there were to be a ripple effect, you would never be put at a disadvantage. But you become the victim because of the current structure of the system,” said VP Adhin as he addressed a group of nurses from the SVZ. The nurses wanted to know why they have not received a purchasing power boost yet. The VP explained that the current structure of the system does not allow direct financing but it does enable the granting of subsidy. The government therefore wants to amend the hospital law within the next 3 to 4 months to remove all uncertainties. The VP promised that the government would present a solution in the form of a transitional arrangement. “I have to discuss it first with the hospital directors,” said the VP who added that the government will present a structural solution to the workers at the private hospitals to prevent “these type of issues in the future.” The VP wants the directors to give their opinion on the matter. VP Adhin on Monday indicated that he would get the Health minister up to speed on the latest developments.
