Teenager arrested on robbery charges

A 14-year-old boy on Monday was arrested in Paramaribo on robbery charges. RH allegedly robbed a 19-yearold girl of her mobile phone. The victim told the police that she was walking along the street in the vicinity of the Oude and the Nieuwe Charlesburgweg when RH who had covered part of his face with a handkerchief approached her and started talking to her. He suddenly grabbed her phone and fled the scene. The victim went after him and received help from a bus driver. The bus driver managed to catch the teen robber who was handed over to the police. RH who was reportedly unarmed confessed to having snatched the victim’s mobile phone. The stolen phone, however, was not recovered. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
