Coronie District has lowest Mulo pass rate

Statistics from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture indicate that the Coronie District has the lowest pass rate for secondary education junior level (Mulo) in Suriname. 45 Mulo students took the final exams in the Coronie District. 7 of them or 16% passed while 8 students or 18% qualified for the resits. 30 students or 67% failed the final exams. 5,374 students took the final exams nationwide. 2,623 students (48.8%) passed the final exams while 738 students (13.7%) qualified for the resits. 2,013 students either failed the final exams or did not get any results. Sipaliwini ranks second when it comes to districts with the lowest pass rate. 61 students from Sipaliwini took the final exams. Only 15 of them or 25% passed the final exams while 16 students or 26% qualified for the resits. 30 students or 49% failed the final exams and will have to try again next year. The Wanica District reportedly has the nation’s highest pass rate. 1,250 students from Wanica took the final exams and 683 students or 55% passed the final exams. 182 students or 15% qualified for the resits while 372 students or 30% failed the exams. 13 students or 1% did not get any results. The Paramaribo District reportedly had the highest number of exam candidates namely 2,456. 1,175 students from Paramaribo or 48% passed the final exams. 356 students or 14% qualified for the resits while 914 or 37% will have to try again next year. 31 students or 1% did not get any results. The districts Para and Brokopondo each have a pass rate of 38%.
