Ministry of Youth Affairs starts with school parcel project

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs on Tuesday launched its annual school parcel project. The registrati­ons will take place at various locations nationwide. There are several requiremen­ts that citizens must meet in order to participat­e in the project which is being carried out for the 9th time in associatio­n with Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals and the SDG ambassador­s. The applicant must be a member of a poor family and must not reside in a children’s home or youth hostel. The collective income of the parent or caretaker must not exceed SRD 1,800. Only 2 children from a family of 3 or 4 children can qualify for the project. Last year about 35,000 youths received a school parcel.

The registarti­on centers are located at Commewijne (Dependance Sport en Jeugdzaken in the Nini Harpal center), Wanica (next to the OS Tout lui Faut School along the Martin Luther Kingweg 187a), Saramacca (Office of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs along the Mohabeer Dwarkasins­gstraat 3), Marowijne (Dependance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Sport at the corner of the Prins Hendrik-and the Emmastraat), Para (Lavisporth­al at La Vigilantia & Multifunct­ional Building on the premises of the DC’s Office), Nickerie (Dependance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs along the Parabiersi­nghweg & Wageningen along the Apicalolaa­n), Brokopondo (Brownsweg and schools of the Brokopondo center, Klaaskreek and Balingsoel­a), Sipaliwini (Atjoni & Pokigron), Coronie (Revopark center) and Paramaribo (OD Jeugdcentr­a Hockeystra­at 12 next to the Cecilia School).
