“Our trip was ruined”

-

“It was like a scene from a horror movie. Our trip was ruined,” said a teacher. She and 10 other colleagues on Monday were robbed at a vacation resort located on the Para District. The woman pointed out that she has been traumatized by the robbery. The teachers arrived at the vacation resort around 9:30 a.m. After about 30 minutes they were robbed by two masked robbers. It is believed that the robbers were already hiding on the premises before the visitors arrived at the location. One of the robbers was armed with a machete while the other one was armed with a sawed off hunting rifle. The robbers who were hiding in the grass near the water jumped up when two teachers approached the water. One of the teachers was held at gun point while the other managed to run to his colleagues to warn them. The robber who was armed with the hunting rifle then pointed it at him and opened fired. The teacher who had run away to warn the others did not sustain any gunshot injuries. The perpetrators then walked towards the entire group and told everybody to get down on the ground. The robbers asked the teachers if they had any weapons before ordering them to hand over their documents, money, jewels and mobile phones. The perpetrators also assaulted one of the teachers before taking their food. They then fled the scene in the bus which had brought the teachers to the vacation resort. They reportedly abandoned the bus in the vicinity of Matta. It is suspected that they then switched cars. After the robbery the victims had to wait about 3 hours for the police to arrive. They were taken to the police station. The teachers who just wanted to relax after having worked hard for an entire school year arrived in the city around 16:30.
